There are moments in life that define you, moments so deeply embedded in your memory that they shape every note you play, every lyric you write. For me, that moment was the first time I truly understood what music could be—not just a sound, but a personal language that only I can fully understand.

The stage felt bigger than usual. My hands were damp, my heartbeat pulsing in my ears as I waited for my cue. The band played on, their groove steady, effortless. I knew my solo was coming, but doubt whispered in the back of my mind. What if I missed a note? What if I froze? The thought alone made my fingers twitch over the keys.

Then it happened—the space opened up for me.

I took a breath and let my hands find their place. The first note rang out, then another, and suddenly, everything else disappeared. My mind went blank—not in fear, but in surrender. My fingers didn’t just press the keys; they danced across them, pulling melodies from thin air, shaping the silence between notes. I was no longer a follower; I was a creator.

Free, fluid, untamed. Each phrase bent and soared the way I wanted, and I realized—I controlled this. The same way I control my life. The nerves, the uncertainty, they didn’t matter anymore. With limitless possibilities of melodies, there were truly no wrong notes.

By the time I landed on my last note, the world rushed back in—the applause, the warmth, the energy—but I stood there, still lost in the music.

I learned something I’ll never forget: fear only lasts until the first note. After that, I kind of just let go I guess…
